What is Cancer ?

Cancer is a multiple kinds of disease that involves Cancer Cells or abnormal cells that grow and divide without warning and control. These cells attacks body tissues and destroys the normal functioning of one part of our body system. There are many types of Cancer. Basically, some Cancer illnesses are asymptomatic or sometimes there is a symptoms but can be misleading and sometimes it is ignored.

Different approach on treatment are given to each different kinds of cancer cells. And there are different types of Cancer which are grouped into different categories as well.

The main categories of cancer include:
  • Carcinoma - cancer that begins in the skin or in tissues that line or cover internal organs.
  • Sarcoma - cancer that begins in bone, cartilage, fat, muscle, blood vessels, or other connective or supportive tissue.
  • Leukemia - cancer that starts in blood-forming tissue such as the bone marrow and causes large numbers of abnormal blood cells to be produced and enter the blood.
  • Lymphoma and myeloma - cancers that begin in the cells of the immune system.
  • Central nervous system cancers - cancers that begin in the tissues of the brain and spinal cord.

Cancers starts with a symptom most frequently noticed as a lymph node growths or tumors. Tumors though aren't always Cancer. They can be classified as Benign or Malignant, depends on the result of the biopsy.
Biopsy or tissue sampling is done after removal or during surgery of the said tumor, to determined the gravity of the tumor found in the body.
